The updates from Microsoft that came out with the September patchday have changed the behaviour of various email clients, including OutLook Express, OutLook and MailDroid. Other email clients also seem to be affected. As a result, fetching and/or sending mail may no longer work. Unfortunately, Windows Live Mail under Windows 8 does not even display an error message.
The reason
A check is made to see whether an SSL certificate is available for the domain via which the mail server is addressed. If there is none, mail is neither collected nor sent.
The remedy
Ersetzen Sie in den Einstellungen für Ihre Mailkonten den Namen des Mailservers, der bisher unseren Empfehlungen nach mail.<meinedomain> lautete (<meinedomain> steht für Ihre individuelle Domain), durch
mail.delink-ssl.net
for both incoming mail servers (POP3 and IMAP) and outgoing mail servers (SMTP). Optionally, you can also activate SSL encryption. The following settings then apply
Outgoing mail server (SMTP) mail.delink-ssl.net Port 465
Incoming mail server (POP3) mail.delink-ssl.net Port 995
Incoming mail server (IMAP) mail.delink-ssl.net Port 993
After the change, the mail traffic works as usual again.
