Time-controlled zone jobs

Hamburg, 05.10.2013

Changes to zones via the zone file editor can be given an execution time. This allows you to schedule changes such as switching to a new forwarding destination or to another web server for any time (e.g. shortly after midnight or during the weekend) without anyone having to be present at that time.

Of course, it should be noted that DNS jobs are never executed to the minute. A good practice is to set the TTL of the affected entries sufficiently in advance to a minimum value (something like 300 seconds). The timed job will then take effect everywhere within a few minutes.

In this way, for example, the launch of a new website can be planned during a press event - during the address, the change takes place without any manual interaction being required at that time!
